Boasting 8 megapixel resolution and 180-degree field of view, the Arecont Vision AV8185 is the first panoramic megapixel camera to offer H.264 compression. With video images of such high-quality, conserving bandwidth and storage capacity is a key concern. That's not a problem with the Arecont Vision AV8185, because with H.264 compression, video file sizes are significantly reduced without sacrificing image quality. On average, H.264 provides 10x the amount of bandwidth and storage reduction over MJPEG.
To achieve a total resolution of 6400 x 1200, the AV8185 features four 2-megapixel sensors. This allows for a massive field of view that can substitute for up to 24 analog surveillance cameras. With one camera doing the work of 24, you're saving a good deal in installation and maintenance costs, and the overall cost of your system is greatly reduced.
The camera features forensic zooming which enables users to zoom into live or recorded footage while viewing in high-definition. This replaces PTZ devices because you can simply zero in on specific parts of the wide-area scene without losing image quality.
