Vandal Proof IP Security CamerasVandal-proof IP cameras are built to withstand vandalism and tampering attempts. Also called vandal-resistant, these rugged security cameras stand up to blows and other threats. Shop here for damage-resistant surveillance cameras.
Vandal-proof IP cameras, also called vandal resistant cameras, include features to protect the camera itself from damage and vandalism. Vandal-proof cameras often have extra strength housing that resists impact more effectively, and special or hidden screws so that the camera can’t be unmounted. Some cameras are classified as tamper resistant. These cameras feature some vandal-proof features, but also have camera intelligence to detect and notify when tampering occurs. For example the cameras will alert surveillance operators when someone tries to block the camera with spray paint, a piece of clothing, or covering the lens with a hand. Tamper resistant cameras can also alert if the camera is redirected.
While vandal-proof housing can go a long way to protecting the cameras, other considerations are also important. Where and how the cameras and housings are mounted can make a huge difference. Fixed dome or PTZ dome cameras that are mounted flush to a ceiling or wall are less vulnerable to attack. Considering the cabling to the camera is also important. Cables pulled directly through the wall or ceiling behind the camera will ensure that there are no visible cables to tamper with. If possible cameras should be placed out of reach on high walls or in the ceiling, preventing many spur-of-the-moment attacks.
