Vivotek VS7100 Video Encoder
The Vivotek VS7100 is a professional, single-channel video server that eases the transition from analog to digital video surveillance. Using dual codec compression, the server converts analog footage to digital, optimizing it for streaming over the network. The VS7100 supports MPEG-4 and MJPEG compression formats and streams up to D1-resolution video for remote viewing and recording. This allows users to migrate to an IP-based surveillance platform while still utilizing existing analog CCTV cameras.
For cost-effective installation, the Vivotek VS7100 supports Power over Ethernet, which means the server can be powered by a single Ethernet cable, rather than complicated and expensive cabling schemes. The same Ethernet cable is what transmits the digital video streams across the network. Other versatile functions of the Vivotek VS7100 include two-way audio support, digital I/O for external sensor and alarm, and an RS-485 interface that lets users control PTZ camera functions. The server also supports 3GPP mobile surveillance for monitoring via cell phone or PDA. Free 16-channel recording software is included with the VS7100.
